New paintings For more photos and information click here to visit www.wendymoore.com.aucurriculum vitaeSince completing full time studies in Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art in 1978, Wendy has worked in many fields – mostly related in some way to the arts.By 1982, Wendy had set up her own fashion accessories business, concentrating on producing limited edition handpainted belts, while experimenting with different techniques for painting on leather. As well as doing the accessories, Wendy painted a number of large leather pieces (paintings) that were hung in the Palmer Headquarters in Sydney. She was soon selling her exclusive range throughout Australia - mainly through Adele Palmer (Jag and DBA). Pieces of this range found their way to Europe and America - the range was eventually extended to include Jewellery and Fabric Designs for various Australian designers. The 90’s saw Wendy changing direction, but still continuing her artistic pursuits. She began using ceramic greenware as her ‘canvas’ and during this time she created an exciting and exclusive range of interior decorative pieces, which, to the initiated, are seen as very distinctly “Moore” pieces.Pieces from these collections have found their way into collections all over Australia and have also been bought by overseas collectors. The popularity and diversity of these pieces kept Wendy busy producing; experimenting with new techniques and designs; and continuing to present unique and exciting pieces for the avid collectors and general interior design market. These pieces included fabulous lamp bases, vases, bowls, platters, etc.The popularity of these pieces led to commissions from interior designers throughout Australia for exclusive, one-off ceramic pieces, handpainted mirrors and some furniture pieces (designed by her husband Jonathan Williams) and painted by Wendy. Other pieces produced in conjunction with Jonathan’s furniture design and furniture building abilities, in her ongoing search for “the something unique and different” was a very popular and diverse range of handpainted interior screens and beautifully crafted (by Jonathan, from recycled floorboards) handpainted boxes in many and various shapes and sizes. These boxes were often included in many “theme” exhibitions at the Contemporary Art and Design Gallery in Brisbane. These exhibitions featured works based on such themes as Sky, Text, and Fruit.Since the late 90’s, Wendy has made a fulltime commitment to her first love – painting on canvas – and has painted many much appreciated and loved commissions during this time. Wendy’s canvases are usually large with some measuring up to 2.5m x 1.5m.
