Foyer Gallery, Griffith University.1993 - Griffith University Warana Exhibition, Warana Festival Gallery.1993 - Fresh, Bartleme Galleries, Brisbane.1993 - Twenty Twenty, Boulder Lodge, Fortitude Valley.Generally my work has questioned the struggle between the natural environment and the effects human occupation. In earlier work in plaster I looked at issues of place, territory and impact on the natural environment, with reference to the Queensland coastline. By looking at a map we situate ourselves in the world in relation to others, finding more about who we are. Places become “known” through the process of mapping and historically, explorers charted the land as an important part of claiming it. You could say that for this current exhibition I have moved from a macro to a micro view. This work continues with thoughts about the natural environment, but introduces ideas about vision and beauty. I have used camera technology to really look at little pods and berries and found that they reveal surprising detail hidden just over the edge of visible.
